A mineral grit mixture such as ABBA mineral should also be supplied daily according to the label instructions.
IN ADDITION: Birds of all species should be offered each day in small amounts a variety of fresh, crisp greens, such as: Dandelion, Escarole, Watercress, Romaine Lettuce, etc. and Fresh Fruits such as Apples or Pears, Fresh water daily for drinking and bathing is also a necessity to keep your birds healthy and happy.
TIPS ON CAGE BIRD FEEDING: Remember, cage birds of all species cannot thrive in good health on dry seed alone. If you observe the birds in the wild state, their diet consists of many nutrients other then dry seed. The seed they eat in the wild state are either in the milky stage or fallen on the ground and may be partially sprouted by moisture. Partially sprouted seeds tend to have greater nutritional value, in addition to seed, all birds in the wild state have access to fresh vegetation, fruits, wild berries, a variety of insects and larvae, and traces of minerals from the earth. All of these nutrients that mother nature offers helps to provide them with a well balanced diet to maintain health, vigor and enables them to reproduce successfully during their breeding season.
ABBA 1800 is the closest diet that you can get for your birds in captivity to the diet that mother nature herself offers to the birds in the wild state.
